Applications are now open for the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland’s 2022-2023 Professional Skills AcademyPBRC’s Professional Skills Academy is a one-year, cohort-based program of training, mentoring, and service for newer attorneys. Fellows who join will:

  • Gain training and practical mentorship to enhance the Fellows’ lawyering skills.
  • Build skills in fact-gathering, negotiation, in-court representation, counseling, and document drafting.
  • Build an intentional pro bono plan and gain experience offering free legal services in court and at community clinics
  • Be introduced to like-minded colleagues who they will make lasting connections with.

Academy Fellows will learn from experienced attorneys while defending low-wage workers against fraud, preventing unlawful evictions in rent court, counseling at-risk immigrants, and preserving intergenerational wealth for low-income families. Fellows will receive topical training to prepare them for their pro bono service, as well as general litigation skills training.
