MSBA continues to support our membership by bringing you the latest Administrative Orders and Covid-19 response plans for various jurisdictions. On August 7, 2021, Chief Judge Barbera announced that masks would be required for all individuals above the age of two, regardless of vaccination status, in courthouse and judicial facilities in any Maryland county or Baltimore city rated by the CDC as having a “high” or “substantial” Covid-19 community transmission rating. Masks are also required for fourteen days after returning from “high” or “substantial” transmission levels to “moderate” or “low.” Click HERE to view the latest CDC information on community transmission ratings by Maryland county to determine the policy in local courthouses.

Some jurisdictions have issued their own orders related to masks and social distancing, listed below. MSBA will continue to monitor the situation and bring you the latest from the courts.

Anne Arundel County Circuit Court – Amended Administrative Order (2021.08.09)

  • As of August 5, 2021: Masks and social distancing are required at all times for all individuals entering the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, regardless of vaccination status.

Montgomery County Circuit Court – Administrative Order (2021.08.08)

  • As of August 7, 2021: Wearing of a face mask is required for any persons over the age of two (2) years. Masks must cover the nose, mouth, and chin completely, without vents. Clear personal barrier shields are not a substitute for and shall not fulfill the masking requirement.
