Handling Collections Cases Through Judgment & Enforcement

Attorneys Ron Canter and Mary Ellen Flynn will lead attendees through the nature of creditor claims encountered by a practicing lawyer including commercial and consumer debt. The program will address effective strategies for representing clients who are owed money by businesses or consumers and will explore both the pre-suit and suit process for pursuing those claims.

In addition the presentation will also cover procedures for judgment enforcement and effective strategies for locating assets. Along with addressing regulatory requirements for collection of consumer debt (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Maryland Consumer Debt Collection Act) and will examine relevant statutory provisions and case rulings limiting creditor remedies.
