HB 425 – Criminal Law – Crimes Involving Computers (Del. Barron) which passed the House 126-0 has been assigned to the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. The bill prohibits intent to interrupt or impair the functioning of a health care facility or a public school, as well as knowingly possessing  ransomware with intent to introduce ransomware into a computer, network, or system of another person. The bill would establish a penalty of 2 years of imprisonment or up to a $5,000 fine or both.
