Carrie J. Williams has been elected partner of the law firm Goodell DeVries, effective January 1, 2024. Carrie joined the firm in 2023 as a member of the Appellate Practice Group, bringing with her 16 years of appellate experience. Before entering private practice, Carrie was with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, where she served as Principal Counsel for Criminal Policy and, before that, Division Chief of the Criminal Appeals Division. As a partner at Goodell DeVries, she represents clients across the firm’s many practice groups in pre-trial and appellate matters. Carrie is a member of the Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission, Co-chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Committee, and Chair of the Programming Committee of the Cole-Davidson Appellate Inn of Court.
Kira E. Zuber has been elected partner of the law firm Goodell DeVries, effective January 1, 2024. Kira joined the firm in 2019 as a member of its Medical Malpractice Practice Group. Kira practices in Maryland and the District of Columbia, where she represents healthcare providers, healthcare institutions, and insurance companies in all phases of medical malpractice claims. Before joining Goodell DeVries, Kira worked as a civil litigation attorney at Sasscer, Clagett & Bucher where she defended a variety of insurance defense claims, including medical malpractice. Kira has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America – Ones to Watch for Medical Malpractice Law. She is a member of the Maryland-D.C. Society for Healthcare Risk Management (MD-DC SHRM), the D.C. Defense Lawyers Association (DCDLA), the Bar Association of Baltimore City, and the Maryland State Bar Association.
Carl Rach was recently named partner at Berman Sobin Gross. Rach grew up in Perry Hall, Maryland. At an early age, he wanted to help others and started volunteering as a firefighter in Baltimore County. He then became a Paramedic with the Baltimore City Fire Department. After a few years, he transferred to the Baltimore City Police Department where he quickly rose through the ranks. Carl spent 25 years serving the citizens of Baltimore City, and along the way joined the Coast Guard Reserves, went to college, and also law school. After leaving Baltimore City, Carl managed the Workers’ Compensation department of a mid-sized law firm before joining BSG Law in 2018. At BSG, Carl has focused his practice on representing injured police officers, firefighters, and other union workers and their friends and families in workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.
Governor Wes Moore recently announced the appointments of Magistrate Ginina Alexandra Jackson-Stevenson to the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court and Jennifer Michelle Alexander to the Anne Arundel County District Court.
Magistrate Ginina Alexandra Jackson-Stevenson became the first African-American female Magistrate on the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County in 2020. She currently serves in the Family Division. Previously, Magistrate Jackson-Stevenson served as a criminal defense attorney in the Office of the Public Defender for seven years. She later launched a solo law practice, where she handled criminal cases, family law matters, personal injury cases, and police misconduct matters. She also served on the Character Committee for the State Board of Law Examiners for five years and served as president of the James C. Cawood, Jr. Inn of Court of Anne Arundel County for two terms. Magistrate Jackson-Stevenson has volunteered her time with the Archbishop Spalding High School mock trial team and served as a moot court coach at the University of Baltimore. She has also served on the Pro Bono Resource Center and YWCA Board of Directors. Magistrate Jackson-Stevenson received her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Jennifer Michelle Alexander has been a principal at McNamee Hosea, P.A. since 2019. She is an experienced complex civil and criminal trial attorney who has tried hundreds of cases in her career, including more than 100 jury trials, in both state and federal courts. Alexander’s trial practice includes defending local, national and international retailers, businesses and insurance companies throughout Maryland. She has successfully briefed and argued on behalf of her clients before the Appellate Court of Maryland and the Supreme Court of Maryland. Alexander is a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation, a membership limited to not more than 2.5% of the Maryland State Bar Association membership, and is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Anne Arundel County Bar Association, James C. Cawood American Inns of Court, and Attorney Grievance Commission Peer Review Panel. Ms. Alexander received her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law.
