Please join us in congratulating the following members on their recent moves.

Thomas A. Hauser, a distinguished real estate and finance attorney with more than 30 years of experience, became Managing Partner of Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, effective October 1, 2023. Mr. Hauser represents clients in all aspects of the purchase, sale, financing, and restructuring of real estate assets. He regularly handles large, complex transactions throughout the country that often involve multiple layers of financing and equity interests. He is a Fellow with the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA), and the Past President and Board Member of The Family Tree, a leading authority in Maryland for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Earl E. Wise III joined CarneyKelehan, a law firm based in Columbia. Wise brings more than 30 years of experience practicing law in real estate, commercial transactions and title insurance. Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, Wise was senior commercial counsel for Fidelity National Title Insurance Co., where he conducted large commercial closings while concentrating in title examination and commercial settlements in Maryland and Washington, D.C. He completed similar work for Liff, Walsh & Simmons/Eagle Title as well as Linowes and Blocher.

He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and Washington D.C. Bar Association. Wise earned his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in history from the College of William & Mary.

Raymond G. Truitt, a Ballard Spahr partner known for his work on commercial real estate financing, restructuring, development, and leasing, has been elected Vice President of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), a national association of distinguished real estate lawyers. Based in Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, Mr. Truitt serves as the firm’s Managing Partner of Finance and Operations and as a member of the Executive Team of the firm’s Management Committee. His election as ACREL Vice President took place during the organization’s recent annual meeting in Denver. It follows his service over the past year as Treasurer, and prior to that, as Secretary and on the ACREL Board of Governors.

In addition to his work with ACREL, Mr. Truitt is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and has served as Chair of both its Section of Real Property and the Section’s Code Revision Committee. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and its U.S. Law Conference Program Committee, for which he also served as Chair.
