The MSBA’s Leadership Academy aims to provide the next generation of attorneys with the skills necessary to become leaders in the profession and the MSBA. The Fellows of the Leadership Academy engage in numerous activities throughout the year, including leadership development and a service project. This past bar year’s service project, a Youth Conflict Resolution Workshop, provided young people in the community with skills that would enable them to avoid or address disagreements they may encounter in the future, not only in their homes or work environment but also in every aspect of their lives. Judges and attorneys taught participants how to identify different types of conflicts and offered suggestions on how to best diffuse contentious situations. The participants noted that the program was very engaging and left them feeling empowered.
