Ensuring access to justice for Maryland’s most vulnerable citizens is no easy task. Without the work of pro bono attorneys across the state many Marylanders would not be able to defend their most basic rights. The Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) is one of the organizations at the heart of this struggle.

On September 12, 2018, MVLS brought together judges and lawyers at DLA piper for an evening of networking. The night also served as an opportunity for MVLS to demonstrate their new online Pro Bono Portal and allow lawyers to see how easy it is to sign up to volunteer over the internet. MSBA President Judge Keith R. Truffer addressed the crowd and spoke to the importance of representation in the courtroom.
