2018 Hjortsberg Award Nominations Due May 22

The MSBA Solo and Small Firm Practice Section is seeking nominations from attorneys, local bar associations, and the judiciary recommending nominees for its 2018 David Hjortsberg Award. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

The criteria has been developed from those qualities that David Hjortsberg gave to our profession: a solo or small firm practitioner who is intelligent and knowledgeable in the law, hardworking and tenacious, yet respectful and civil to every party, witness and attorney case, views the practice of law as a profession and takes personal pride in his/her work, and he/she is active in his/her community, their local bar and the State Bar.

Anyone who has worked with a solo or small firm attorney whom you believe is an exemplary attorney and helped or encouraged you to be a better attorney, who was a gentleman/gentlewoman, who worked hard, who was respectful to your clients and witnesses yet was a tenacious advocate on behalf of his/her client, and is the kind of an attorney with whom all attorneys want to work, and emulate – we encourage you to nominate them for this award.

The award will be presented at the MSBA Legal Summit & Annual Meeting on Friday, June 15, 2018, immediately following the Solo/Small Firm Practice Section’s “Practice Management Software v. None” program.

Nominations for the 2018 David Hjortsberg Award may be submitted online, and are due no later than Tuesday, May 22.
