Registration and eAccess: The Court provides electronic access (eAccess) allowing registered petitioners, intervenors, corporations, fiduciaries, and certain other participants (referred to here as “petitioners”) and persons representing petitioners and respondent who are admitted to practice before the Tax Court (referred to here as “practitioners”) to electronically view documents in their Tax Court case or cases. Petitioners and practitioners with active cases may register for online access by calling (202) 521-4629 or emailing Admissions@ustaxcourt.gov.

Effective immediately and until further notice, the United States Tax Court building is closed. Mail will be held for delivery until the Court reopens. Taxpayers may comply with statutory deadlines for filing petitions or notices of appeal by timely mailing a petition or notice of appeal to the Court. Timeliness of mailing of the petition or notice of appeal is determined by the United States Postal Service’s postmark or the delivery certificate of a designated private delivery service. The eAccess and eFiling systems remain operational. Petitions and other documents may not be hand delivered to the Court. For the health and safety of Court employees and the public, the Court has determined that, effective immediately and until further notice, it is appropriate to close the Tax Court building to visitors. The Court will continue to receive and process mail. Petitions may be hand-delivered between the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. No applications for admission to practice or requests for copies of documents will be processed. The following trial sessions will be canceled: April 6, 2020: Little Rock, AR; Niagara Falls, NY; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA April 8, 2020: Chicago, IL April 13, 2020: Washington, DC April 14, 2020: Philadelphia, PA April 20, 2020: Atlanta, GA; Bismarck, ND; Chicago, IL; Clarksburg, WV; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Omaha, NE; San Francisco, CA April 22, 2020: Aberdeen, SD April 27, 2020: Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New Orleans, LA; San Diego, CA; Syracuse, NY April 30, 2020: Albany, NY; Shreveport, LA The Court expects that the parties will continue to work together to exchange information and address pending issues. The United States Tax Court, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a Court of nationwide jurisdiction and conducts trial sessions in 74 cities across the country. These sessions typically involve a large number of participants including litigants, attorneys, witnesses, low-income taxpayer clinic representatives, barsponsored pro bono program representatives, and Court personnel. After assessing all relevant factors relating to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including travel and public health considerations, the Court has determined that it is appropriate to cancel the following trial sessions: March 16, 2020: Hartford, CT; Philadelphia, PA; and San Francisco, CA March 17, 2020: Provo, UT March 23, 2020: Boston, MA; Los Angeles, CA; Milwaukee, WI; Pittsburgh, PA; and San Antonio, TX March 30, 2020: Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; and Philadelphia, PA In keeping with Court practice, it is expected that parties will continue to work together to exchange information and address pending issues.
